Logging into Google Analytics
- Access Google Analytics at: http://www.google.com/analytics
- Login using your username & password provided by BDG.
- Contact us if you can’t find it.

- After logging in, click the “View Report” link next to your domain name to enter the dashboard:
Dashboard Sections
How Many Visitors Are We Getting?
The top graph under “Visits” shows your traffic over a specific time period. The Site Usage section shows:
Visits = Total Traffic for your time period.
Pageviews = Number of web pages that have been viewed by your visitors.
Pages/Visit = Number of pages the average visitor views before leaving site.
% New Visits = New Visitors are those who have not visited before.
Referral Traffic = Visitors who have found the site by searching, or from a link on another site.
Bounce Rate – Bounce rate is the percentage of single-page visits or visits in which the person left your site from the entrance (landing) page
Where Are My Visitors Located Geographically?
The map overlay displays the regions from which your visitors originated.
- Click the specific map sections to drill down further into that region.
What Site(s) Did My Visitors Come From?
The Traffic Sources section tells where your visitors came from – whether search engine searches, referring websites, or directly typing in your url address. Click the View Report link, under Traffic Sources to learn more.
Which Pages Are People Visiting?
The Content Overview section displays the pages on your site that are performing the best; which pages are getting traffic, and exactly how much traffic each page is getting.
Filtering Specific Data
Filter your graphs above by clicking the dropdown arrow next to “All Visits”, then select which audience demographic you would like to see. Clicking New Visits will show visitors that haven’t seen the site before. Referral traffic on the other hand would show visitors that have reached your site through either a search, or from another website.
Filtering by Specific Date
You can change the date range for your graph by simply clicking the date, and adjusting the dates displayed.
Custom Reporting with Google Analytics
With Google Analytics, you can easily automate reporting to be taken on your domain on a weekly, monthly or other recurring basis. Follow this tutorial to create your own custom reports:
