Creating a New Page
- Once logged in to WordPress, mousover the “Pages” tab on the left, and click the down arrow.
- Click “Add New”.
- Enter the Page Information:
- Title - Enter the title at the top of the page.
- Body - Enter the page body, add any bold, italics text, images, links, paragraphs and headings that you would like.
- Parent - Set the page’s parent (if it has one). This is recommended. For example, the Women’s Rights Room Page’s parent is The Gage Home Page.
- Template - Set a page template if desired. More on Page Templates.
- Order - If changed, this will determine the order of this page within any dropdown menus. If you would like it at the top of the list give a smaller (or negative) number. To push it down the list give a higher number.
- If you are finished editing, click the “Publish” button (on the right).
- If you would like, you can now edit the Permalink, below the title. This is the address that users will find your page. If you are using the page for marketing purposes, use a shorter link. However it is helpful for search engine reasons to use keywords in your page title and permalink, so only shorten if necessary.
- Click Update Page to save changes, and make sure to view your new creation!
